Dr. Altaf Hussain

Dr. Altaf Hussain, is currently Head of The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, affiliated to SZAB Medical University.

Dr. Hussain attended Khyber Medical College, Peshawer, KPK and  then he completed his postgraduate training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in 2003.

Following his FCPS Dr. Hussain joined the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences as Senior Registrar in 2004 initially then as Assistant Professor in 2009 leading the head and neck cancer surgery and oncology team and served in multiple roles within SZAB Medical University including committee member etc. In 2018 he  started working as Associated Professor in the same department. 

In 2020 Dr. Hussain was appointed as Head of The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Hussain academic focus is on head and neck cancer and oncology, including outcomes based research in head and neck with particular focus on outcome related to organ preservation and chemo-radiotherapy, thyroid cancer, salivary gland tumors, metastatic and recurrent, as well as translational research in head and neck cancer.

Dr. Hussain has over 20 national and international publications on his research regarding head and neck tumors.
